Dental Crowns

Types of crowns:

Metal-backed ceramic porcelain: This is a form of covering consisting of a metal substrate beneath and a porcelain crown on the surface. The metal substructure, crafted from alloys, imparts durability and strength, while the upper porcelain layer ensures an aesthetic appearance. Although they do not exhibit the same level of aesthetics as zirconium due to their minimal light reflection, they find preference in situations involving extensive toothless gaps.

Zirconium crowns: Commonly employed in dentistry, represent a durable and aesthetically pleasing material. Their biocompatible composition mimics the natural growth of teeth within the gums. Zirconium crowns are highly favoured because they accurately replicate the texture of natural tooth enamel and maintain their colour over the long term. They are considered more aesthetically pleasing compared to prostheses with a metal base.

Titanium-backed zirconium crowns: They find particular favour in cases involving all-on-four and all-on-six implants, offering the combination of titanium's lightweight durability and the aesthetic appeal of zirconium.

E.max (empress) crowns: E-max crowns provide an aesthetic result remarkably akin to that of natural teeth. They possess a translucency that mimics the way natural teeth transmit light. E.max material is both fracture-resistant and conducive to thin designs. It is also gum-friendly and non-allergenic, making it suitable for creating laminate veneers.

Laminate veneer: Laminate veneers consist of a thin layer applied to the front surfaces of teeth for aesthetic enhancement. Typically crafted from porcelain or composite materials, these veneers serve to enhance or rectify teeth in terms of shape, colour, and size. They effectively address undesired discoloration, stains, cracks, or irregularities while preserving the natural look of the teeth. Laminate veneers offer a minimally invasive means of correcting and reshaping teeth, serving both cosmetic purposes and the remediation of minor dental imperfections. However, each patient exhibits unique characteristics; hence, it is crucial to engage in a consultation with a dentist to ascertain the suitability of this dental enhancement for you. Your dentist will provide recommendations for the most appropriate treatment based on your individual requirements and objectives.
